Hidden Doorway

On a side street in Tucson's old section, El Presidio, I found a doorway to a home that was set back from the street with no walkway leading to it. Apparently another entrance is used, because lights were on in the home. It looked like a cool refuge from the hot midday sun. 20" x 16" acrylic painting, # 5 in a doorway series.

This is another of Tucson's intriguing doorways in the old section called El Presidio, founded by the Spaniards before England sent settlers to the east coast. The once-walled settlement is in the shadows of Tucson's modern "skyscrapers." 20" x 16" acrylic painting.

Presidio Pink Door

This doorway is also in the El Presidio section of Tucson, and is one of many there which are very colorful. I painted it in acrylic on a 20" x 16" canvas board from one of the many photos I went back recently to take. I wanted to bring a little bit of southern Arizona's warm March sunshine home.

Welcome Home

I painted this unusual doorway from a photo I took in El Presidio, the restored, old section of Tucson, Arizona, using acrylic heavy body paints on a 16" x 12" canvas board. This approximately four-square-block area of Tucson is a delightful place for a stroll, and has been beautifully and colorfully restored.

The entrance to this charming small home (casita) caught my attentiom during a visit to Tucson, AZ last winter. I brought the memory home via several photos and later painted it in acrylic on an 14" x 11" canvas board.
