I painted this 11" x 14" acrylic on canvas from a photo I took of the ancient Mesa Verde cliff dwelling in Colorado while standing on an adjacent mesa.
Your blog looks great....since I've never been in Arizona your painting sure does give me a good idea of the beauty I've been missing, I'll have to add it to my life list!
I developed a love for a diversity of landscapes and buildings while living in many states, as well as in Canada and Europe. Recently I have studied art under Mary Telfer Holden, Johanna Gullick, Lynn Lourie and Anita Gordon. When I paint a scene, I am feeling again the mood I experienced in a particular place.
I like to paint from photos I have taken, sometimes combining several to create a specific ambience, and sometimes altering colors to suggest a different mood. I invite viewers to step in and experience their own feelings.
When creating abstract paintings, I focus on clarity of colors as well as balance and motion in the interaction of colors.

There is so much depth in there. I like that you work from your own photos!
