Milkweed in Green

Last fall, at a city park near my home, after the wildflowers had all faded, some milkweed pods were just opening and launching their winged seeds into the crisp air. I took several photos and couldn't wait to get home to paint them. I eventually made three 14" x 11" acrylic paintings, each with a different color around the pods. This is the one in green.

Squire Pope Road Live Oak

Along Squire Pope Road on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina there is a very old, majestic live oak. It creates its own microcosm of nature. I would have liked to pitch a tent under it and stay awhile, but instead I took a picture, from which I later painted an 8" x 10" pastel.
